This restorative session will show you ways to help your heart rest and recuperate from physical fatigue and emotional stress.
Guruji (BKS Iyengar) once said that the heart can rest when the whole back bank of the heart is supported.
Many of the asanas in this programme are supine variations that are dependent on props to have therapeutic effect so students attending will need access to a wide range of props to do this session. Some of the props can be substituted for items you may have around the home as shown below:
2 bolsters or detachable sofa/chair cushions
4 foam blocks
at least 4 blankets or large bath towels
2 yoga bricks or books of the equivalent height
1 yoga chair or dining chair/ stool of equivalent height
If you do not have these props but are interested in learning a restorative sequence than we recommend you attend our small studio-based restorative sessions which are now running again on Saturday afternoons. We are well equipped with yoga props that you can use for this session.
This session will run from 5-7pm on Monday 31st May, the late May bank holiday, and is aimed at students with some experience of Iyengar Yoga and restorative practice.
